Osaka Banks On Becoming a Robo City on the Backs of It's Football Playing Robots

Through a "Dream Team" collaboration of several universities and companies, Osaka is banking on becoming a center of robotic research and development. The effort has already produced robots capable of autonomously tracking, approaching, and kicking balls. The 35cm tall robots, dubbed VisiON, sport 360 vision and an array of sensors. Their aim is to produce robots capable of challenging the world's best human players by 2050.
